Charlotte told me something I keep feeling in my chest… “Beneath my anger was not pain, beneath my anger was truth.”

She grew up in a very violent house. So anger became the one emotion she was never allowed to touch. She carried shame around it. Teachers kept telling her that beneath anger there is only more pain… and she had already lived through so much pain. Why would she want to feel more?

And then she went in anyway. Slowly. With breath. With presence. And what she found under the anger was not a wound… it was her truth. The more she lets herself feel it, the more alive she feels… and the safer she feels being seen exactly as she is.

I felt that one. How long have I kept the "unacceptable" parts of me in the dark, hoping presence would only visit the pretty rooms?
