Born into suffering... and still full of light

Hi friend,

Kefah told me something I keep hearing in my body… “my story was that I was born into huge amounts of suffering.”

And yet, even as a child, there was light. She can't point to a first moment of presence. It was simply there, all along. She could feel the pressure of the suffering around her… and at the same time, she could see that it was an illusion.

Healing became her world. She was relentless. She wrote books about it. And then, with her partner David, she opened a school… the School of Unified Healing, where I facilitate today.

To everybody else, she says, it looked ludicrous. The risk was real: losing lots of money and having no school at all.

And then she said this… “Actually sometimes it has to look like a shit show.”

I felt that one. How many times have I waited for my life to look clean before trusting it?

This is the line I felt in my chest during our conversation:

“No matter how big, our attention is bigger.”

No matter how big the fear, the grief, the noise… the space that holds it is bigger. Kefah calls presence an aliveness. And kindness, she says, “can't be faked.”

She also shared a practice that takes a few minutes, not seconds for those moments when you notice you're losing your centre.
