What If Stopping to Follow Gurus Was the Best Decision of Your Life?

I say this after being a meditation monk for 12 years...

I was a meditation monk for 12 years. Some of my fellow monks were also multimillionaires. Human beings who dedicated decades to inner practice.

And still — we were all learning. Some lost everything afterwards. Some had heart attacks. Some fell ill in ways that were genuinely frightening.

What if nobody has it all figured out. What if we're all learning how to live. What if that's actually a good thing.

What if having it all figured out only happens when we die? What if we're all simply surfing this wave we call life — which changes in every moment, every day — the best we know how?

What if… Nobody who is alive has it all figured out. Nobody.

What if stopping to follow gurus — who pretend to have the answers — was a really good idea?

At best, they have their answers for themselves. But that guarantees nothing for you.

The fact that something worked for me doesn't guarantee it will work for you.

What if... the only guru who can guide you is the one looking through your eyes right now.

So what do I actually know?

I know that "what if...?" is a respectful way of speaking to the infinite intelligence inside you. An invitation to explore, to question, to discover. Not a claim that I have the answer.

And I know there are some things that, for me, feel more and more aligned. For example:

🌿 What if clarifying what we truly want most was a really good idea?

🌿 What if sitting with other humans committed to genuinely opening up and supporting each other — at least once a week — was a really good idea?

🌿 What if taking inspired actions, one after another, in that direction was a really good idea?

🌿 What if sharing what we most want to hide — what we're most afraid, ashamed, or uncomfortable sharing — was one of the most powerful things we can do?

Because with that, I transmute fear into courage. Self-judgment into self-awareness. Suppressed energy into fuel and space available to create the life I truly want.

What if the only question that matters in every moment is:

Does this feel right or aligned for me right now?

Not because it seems to work for many people. Not because you read it from me. Or because Tony Robbins, Eckhart Tolle, or the Dalai Lama said it. But because you, in this moment, feel it as true.

If it's a yes — honor that. Enjoy the journey, whether it's beautiful or challenging, or both.

If it's not a yes — honor that too. That's your truth right now. And that deserves your respect.
